New Product Spotlight: Model 45 Interface
StudioComm a "Top Ten" Pick at NAB 2009
Why Choose Studio Technologies?
The Model 45 Interface lets you connect 2-wire full-duplex party-line intercom circuits to 4-wire audio circuits, including matrix intercom systems and other special-purpose audio configurations. Extended bandwidth, excellent auto nulling, and transformer-coupled connections contribute to highly intelligible audio that is free of undesirable noise and artifacts. Audio level meters provide confirmation of system performance during setup and operation. The ½-rack Model 45 is small and light, making it perfect for portable and "throw-down" broadcast applications, but its high performance makes it equally appropriate for permanent installations in broadcast facilities, theme parks, and theaters.
The Model 45 is designed to operate stably with wet or dry intercom circuits and can be connected directly to a wide variety of dual-channel, party-line intercom devices including those from Clear-Com® and the TW series from RTS®. It can be set up in three different power configurations, making it highly flexible in the field. First, the interface can be powered by the connected 2-wire, party-line circuit. It can also be powered by an external 24-volt DC source. And finally, when connected to an external source the unit can supply 30 volts DC to the 2-wire side of the interface. In the latter case, there's no need for an external intercom power supply, so overall system cost, weight, and space requirements will be reduced.
The Model 45's sophisticated dual auto nulling function uses microprocessor-controlled analog circuitry that adapts to the electrical characteristics of the connected party-line circuit and optimizes return-loss performance. The 4-wire portion of the interface has a nominal level of +4 dBu and a maximum level of +22 dBu, accommodating a wide variety of standard audio devices, as well as audio-over-fiber transmission systems. For more details, see the full description of the Model 45.
Mix Magazine Selects StudioComm 76DB/77B Surround Sound Monitoring System as Among Show's Best Products
The editors of Mix magazine singled out our all-digital StudioComm 76DB/77B Surround Monitoring System as one of their Top 10 Product Picks at NAB 2009, citing its simple, effective control for monitoring 5.1 surround and stereo mixes, as well as its ability to feed digital-input loudspeakers directly, without the sonic degradation inherent in extraneous stages of D/A or A/D conversion. Read about all of their NAB picks here.
The Model 76DB Central Controller and Model 77B Control Console are specifically designed for the needs of broadcast master control and post-production applications. In addition to the features of other StudioComm systems, the 76DB/77B pair supports Dolby® E dialnorm metadata, and will automatically implement a gain offset to maintain your selected reference level. The StudioComm broadcast version also gives you more channel configuration flexibility, allowing you to configure stereo inputs as dual monaural sources. (The Model 76B Central Controller gives you these same features with analog audio outputs.) In addition, the 76DB Central Controller accepts a variety of standard video sync signals, and can add up to 450 milliseconds of audio delay to compensate for processing delays in the video path.
